Artist Bio

Sheanni Sims is a surrealist artist whose work challenges the role of what it means to be a painter, art director, designer & curator working remotely. Currently, her artistic practice grows to reflect the complex lives of black and brown gender expansive women who face issues with bodily autonomy, ancestral rootwork, spiritual desire and creative expression.

Sims’s paintings, which have been showcased by AfricanByArt (2023), MOBIfest (2022/2025), The Center (2025) & Black Trans Liberation Kitchen (2026). Her previous role as Art Director for the film, Artifice (2025) was showcased in NewFest. She is now an continuing Art Director for the new film Black Listnessless, written by Thee Rose.  In addition, Sims’s in studying writing & art at Borough of Manhattan Community College as class of 2027, where she’ll earn her associates in Liberal Arts.
